Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my dog be there?

Time is dependent on each dog's individual needs. Size, behaviour, coat condition, age, health, and the type of service are all factors to be considered. Working with animals can be unpredictable, but I aim for 2-3 hours for small-medium sized breeds and 3-5 hours for large-giant sized breeds. I will always send a text 30 minutes before the groom is done!

How much does grooming cost?

Costs for grooming services depend on factors such as size, behaviour, and coat condition of your dog. To obtain a quote, please fill out my form on the Request an Appointment page.  Please be aware that quotes provided are estimates and may not represent the final price. Any additional charges will be communicated either upon drop-off or during the grooming process before they are applied

How often should I get my dog groomed?

Scheduling is determined by a few factors. For long haired breeds that opt for longer haircuts (1/2" or longer) I suggest every 4-6 weeks with brushing daily at home. For shorter cuts I suggest anywhere from 6-8 weeks.  For double coated or short coated breeds I typically suggest anywhere from 6-12 weeks.

When can i bring my puppy for their first groom?

After your pet has received all necessary vaccinations, you can schedule their first groom between 2-4 months of age. I recommend starting with a bath and tidy to introduce them to grooming procedures. The way puppies are introduced to grooming shapes the way they will respond to it for their entire life. Early exposure to grooming is crucial for your pup to feel comfortable with the grooming process, promoting stress-free visits as they mature.

MY dog is matted but i dont want them shaved, can you de-matt my dog?

I try to avoid de-matting as it creates a negative association with grooming for most dogs.  My grooming packages include 15 minutes of brushing. In mild cases, matts may be spot shaved or brushed out within this time frame to preserve the coat. However, if de-matting is possible and it is exceeding the 15-minute limit, a charge of $1 per minute charged for the rest of my time spent de-matting. I will only continue to de-matt if I deem your dog is comfortable with process.

Severe matting or pelting necessitates a shave down, also billed at $1 per minute. Ensuring your dog's safety and comfort is my utmost priority, and excessive de-matting can cause stress and discomfort. Please brush your dog daily, choose a haircut for your dog that you know you can maintain and  keep your dog on a grooming schedule to avoid these situations and extra costs!

can owners stay for the groom?

While I understand your desire to stay with your dog during the grooming appointment, I, like many other groomers, have a policy against it, primarily for the safety and well-being of your dog. When pet parents are present, dogs often become excited and distracted which can lead to unexpected movements and reactions, posing risk of injury to both the dog and groomer. Additionally, the grooming process may take longer as the dog may be less focused. Overall, it becomes challenging to ensure a safe and efficient grooming experience. Letting your dog conquer their grooming visits solo also helps them build up a sense of confidence when it comes to the grooming salon!

What is your pick up and drop off procedure?

Please proceed to the back of the driveway and come through the backyard gate. While I strive to maintain punctuality, please understand that I operate independently and focus on providing personalized, one-on-one grooming services. I make every effort to avoid appointment overlaps, but your patience is appreciated in the event of any delays. I always send a text 30 minutes before your dogs groom is done so you have a heads up for pick-up time!

what are your late policies

As a one-on-one groomer, my schedule is tightly managed, necessitating punctuality from clients. Please arrive neither early nor late to avoid overlap with other appointments. Promptness is crucial. Clients exceeding a 15-minute delay will be charged a $15 late fee, and their appointment may be rescheduled if it risks overlapping with others. This policy applies to both drop-off and pick-up times. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

what is your cancellation policy?

Clients must provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling to avoid being charged 50% of the appointment fee.

Failure to attend a scheduled appointment without giving me any prior notice  is classified as a "no-show." In the case of a "no-show," I reserve the right to charge the FULL grooming fee, considering the loss of revenue incurred.

Please communicate any changes in your schedule to avoid such circumstances. I am a solo-run small business, this is my livelihood and no shows result in me losing my source of income. Exceptions may be made at my discretion for family emergencies or unforeseen circumstances. While I sympathize with unexpected events, consistent issues may not be accommodated.

can i bring my dog in for a haircut without the bath?

Unfortunately no, a thorough and professional bath and dry are essential to achieve a quality groom.

Do you express anal glands?

I hold the belief that a groomer's responsibility primarily lies in external maintenance, excluding ears and teeth, while veterinarians are better equipped to address internal matters. Consequently, I do not perform anal gland expression as it falls within the purview of veterinary care.
